Russians in town
last night I came home and barely had any word with my roommates when I heard “A eto ty Olya!” (It’s you Olga, right?). A Russian girl called Anna got back to India for a while. She used to stay in the apartment where I live now and it was strange to see her shocked with how the things are at the flat now. I do not remember where but I read once that you should not get back alone to the places where you used to be with your loved people. Seems true – it is not only sad to come back to those, but truly painful. Anyways, this was my first chance to speak Russian alive in this country – and I nearly failed. Could barely express myself in the oral Russian and realized that everything I am saying is a very awkward translation of English phrases I am used to think in. What a shame! But even despite me being tong-tied we managed to have amazing conversations. Oh, it means so much to be on the same wave with a person. And yes – women are amusing and beautiful!
