India: scientific approach to a mystery

I am already at home in Russia, yet there is so much more to write about India. I'll continue posting here, so keep an eye on this blog. I set up my old-and-new blog about Russia HERE - you may also check out that one now and then. Also, slowly but surely I am uploading the pics from the travels on which I haven't posted yet at the upgraded (hurra!) Yahoo.

Dharamshala trip: Rain

It looked like a major shower rain coming over McLeodganj.

We rushed to the museum. A very nice lady at the ticket counter gave us tickets and it took us less than a while to realize there is no electricity in the museum. We angrily inquired why she sold tickets to us. The lady politely replied that she could give us money back if we want to. 5 Rs we paid was not the issue anyway and we tried to explore around. The first floor is devoted to the Tibetan history, but it was hopelessly dark to make out anything. We suspiciously got the second floor marked with the “painting exhibition” sign. Most of us glimpsed at the paintings and left disappointed. Me and Anya stayed wandering around the colorful works of some Tibetan Picasso… Two men approached us and started explaining the paintings… before we even realized we were lucky enough to get guided by the painter himself. The colorful works made in somewhat Picassian style appeared to reflect various themes of Tibetan Buddhism. Buddgha’s eye, the wheel of life, compassion, … as bright as the dresses of Tibetan women…

The museum is located right by the temple, so we just took this chance to visit the temple again. There is some special feeling to be in the temple during the rain. The sounds of wind and falling drops evoke this alert feeling in you. You get ecstatic … as you get an idea of something significant about to happen.

Anya is happy; she says she’s been always wanting to spin the metal heads at the temple under the rain. The chance has come…

Our 7 mates left by a deluxe bus…
